Natural Edge Slab Style Mantels As popular as Natural edge or "Live edge" mantels have been in recent years (they do set off a rustic, Texas limestone wall extremely well), we also craft custom, solid wood slab and "box" style mantels here in our shop, as well. You can come in with photos of mantels that you have seen in books or magazines that you like (we have MANY photos here to look at here, too) or you can simply walk-in and start designing with us from scratch. Our team of designers, many students from UTSA Architecture school, led by JR Huebinger, LSU Architecture graduate will guide you through the process, step by step. The first step is often measuring the site, which we can do, for a fee, or you can provide us with the basic measurements that we need. From there we ask many questions to determine what styles and influences you like and what suits the project at hand. We then produce sketches to show what the finished product will be.

Checking the Process in the Shop Delivering the finished product The final product is delivered and checked for fit. The homeowner is responsible for final finishing and attachment (we have several people that we can recommend for both processes, if you like).
Crown Style Mantel, Cherry We can work in any wood, to any style you desire. Either a full surround with legs or any variation...

These can be dressed up further with corbels or brackets that can be attached from inside and actually hang from the mantel.
